Experiences in Whitsundays

Daydream Island

whitsundays hotels

Daydream Island is not part of the National Park and is the site of Daydream Island Resort. Daydream Island is a small island located just west of North and South Molle Islands in the Whitsundays.  It is only one kilometer long and no more than 400 meters wide.

Daydream Island

It was named in the 1930s after a sailing yacht belonging to the owners of the island's first resort, which is located on the south end.  Daydream Island now boasts a second resort on the north end.

On the central hill of this small island is dense tropical vegetation which provides a home for colourful tropical birds, especially parrots and sunbirds. Daydream Island is 15 minutes ferry ride from Shute Harbour with Blue Ferries.

Rejuvenation Day Spa

Located on Daydream Island is an award winning day spa.  Tourists can be rejuvenated with a full range of spa treatments.  The spa features sixteen treatment rooms.  Treatments include massage, mineral baths, hydrotherapy, and the use of some of the finest personal care products in the world.

Beaches and Activities

A vacation on Daydream Island provides a wide variety of activities.  The three main beaches on the island offer different experiences, including exploring a coral reef, snorkeling, hiking, and enjoying the local bird life.  Wind surfing and sea kayaking are available for the adventurous.  For those interested in eco-tourism, a visit to Daydream Island can give you a chance to view endangered species such as the humpback whale (from July to September) and the loggerhead turtle (from November to February).
